At this time of year I like to take the time to visit some of my colleagues and friends that I don’t see as often as I should. There are about a dozen of them that get together with me and share how their year went and we can catch up on our lives, our work, and what the best things were over the course of the last year. For me, it is a good way to stay in touch and get glimpses into the lives of other people that are busy like myself.
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to sit down with Jeff, my old college roommate, who is now a practising lawyer in New York. We have kept in touch because of our college ties and I think he has as much fun listening to my life as I do his.
One of the things that he couldn’t stop speaking about was how his law firm started using BlueLine legal software to help reduce the amount of time they spent on cases. He couldn’t stop talking about how it had helped his firm become more efficient saving money on their already high labor costs.
In fact, it was the first year that he didn’t have to work seven days a week and he actually had time to spend with his family.
It is definitely great when you hear stories about how technology and software can help give people the opportunity to save time without costing other people jobs.
