When it comes to our IT department, time is a valuable commodity.  They need to serve the needs of our organization in an efficient manner as we don’t have a large budget for staffing.  We count on them to keep all of the computers running smoothly, and this can prove to be quite the challenge in an organization of our size.  But we try to stack the deck in their favor to make their job as easy as possible.

Since we are always on the lookout for ways to create more efficiency in our organization, we have the IT guys keep abreast of programming platforms that will help them to do their job.  This past week, one of our techs let us know about a Docker training program that was available online.  Docker is an open source platform that makes it easy to build and deploy distributed applications.  This can make it easy to deploy software packages on everything from laptops to server-based systems.

Basically, it would allow our staff to code applications that would be able to be deployed across our network of machines saving us time and money.

The training program just made sense, so we enrolled our entire IT staff so that they would have an easier time doing their jobs.

I am really looking forward to seeing what they will be able to do with their new skills in Docker.
